So recently, the local SPCA busted an animal warehouse that was selling exotics and seized like 800 hedgehogs. There are still 400ish at the SPCA. On Tues and Weds I am going to volunteer to clean cages and feed/water them. HOLY FUCK that is a lot of hedgehogs. I am so glad I can help. Maybe I can adopt one or two, who knows. I would like to. I can't fucking BELIEVE they had so many. ASSHOLES. I'm glad they were shut DOWN.

I had a very low-key NYE and I am totally cool w/that. Ian came home from Nathan's in the afternoon, I worked most of the day, then we took off for Ted & Heather's house. We got take-out from the yummiest Thai place ever and Ian and their son (and his friend) played on the Wii pretty much all night. We had a few cocktails and watched 2 episodes of True Blood and happy new year. I'm chill.

I can't BELIEVE it has been TEN YEARS since I was 22, very miserable from a very bad break-up, alone in my first apartment ever by myself, drinking wine coolers at the computer because I had no life. GOD I am SO GLAD I "woke up". My life has changed so drastically and so much for the better. It still has a long way to go but I am on a mission.

A year is such a short amount of time and yet you can pack SO MUCH into it. I'm on it.

This is my new baby that I got from eternal_unrest. Her original name was Bea Bug, but I think Ian wants to name her Daisy. These are sort of crappy phone pics, but she's gorgeous! Her and my other hedgie Lottie are getting along well so far. I realized they are hippies-- Lottie is sleeping in a chai tea box and Daisy is sleeping in an organic blueberry pop-tart box, hahaha. But I did think it was cute that they moved their boxes next to each other to sleep. :)

My stupid mailman has not delivered mail in like 5 days. I am expecting 7 packages. AS WELL AS MY NETFLIX GODDAMMIT! I called the post office and they're like "well your carrier is not at his desk." I do not want to talk to my carrier, I want to complain about him to his BOSS. Apparently the carrier saw my neighbor at 7-11 and told him he lost the key to the building. Is it unreasonable for him to just knock on the door?! I mean shit, someone would hear him and let him in! This is the SECOND time he's lost the key. Once I saw him trying to get in and I OFFERED to let him in the door, and he said NO "I have a key in my truck" but he got in his truck and DROVE AWAY. So we weren't getting mail for weeks then!

This is total and complete bullshit. I want my stuff!!!:(

I love/hate Lady Gaga. I really loved her at first. Then I realized she was ripping off Kylie Minogue SO OBVIOUSLY and that realllllllllly pissed me off. (I love Kylie. Did I mention that I'm a gay man in a woman's body?) Then I was like, well, she's new and there is nothing original under the sun, so I guess in a way she has to sort of rip everyone off at once and put it in one big, unpolished, pseudo-drag queen package. She's SO AMATEUR it is grating to watch, but then I think, "I am sure a lot of people thought that about Madonna when she was rolling around on the floor in a wedding dress." I don't think Gaga QUITE has Madonna potential but maybe close. There just won't be another Madonna so I wish people would stop saying that she's "the next Madonna". MADONNA ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE.

And then this "Bad Romance" song has come out, and at first I HATED IT and thought it was like a bastard child of her and Marilyn Manson, but the more I listen to it, (which I feel compelled to do) to more I like it. ;/

Recently, I REALLY HATED Madonna's "Revolver" song but then it grew on me and now I love it. I think it sounds too Britney but whatever, it's like a last ditch "Fuck you Warner Brothers" sort of effort so who cares..

I don't WANT to like her though. I like her music but I don't think she's original and SHE is so precious at times it gets on my nerves, walking around carrying a purple teacup everywhere.... *eyeroll*




Ok don't ask me why I'm ranting about this at 7:54 in the morning. I am grouchy because I have a sick kid and I want to go back to sleep but instead I am having to watch Pokemon.

-will read and start plotting my Nanowrimo story

Ok, I've downloaded Season 2 of True Blood and I want to burn it to disc to watch on my actual tv. Is there a program I can download that will help me do this? I know I can do it on my laptop, just don't know HOW.

lout_rampage's husband has an art show tonight, so I'm taking Ian! I'm really excited to take him to his first show. He made his own little sculpture this week, and he worked very hard on it. I am happy to nurture this part of his creativity!

I've always liked Peaches but I REALLY LOVE her new album.

She'll be in Dallas on the 12th. I wish I could go SO BAD! But even if I had the money, I have no babysitter. BOO! (The idea of taking Ian to a Peaches show is pretty horrifying/amusing though.)

I just watched my pug get into my purse and pull out a box of Claritin & walk away with it in her mouth as if she just DOES that. Uh NO PUG.

Ian went to school today after being sick all week. It's Beach Day. He got to wear his swimsuit to school. He finally woke up without a fever or dry heaving. I am a hypochondriac apparently, and last night he was standing funny and I felt the ridge of his hip bone and thought he had a weird lump there. So I took him to the doctor for the second time. And found out it was nothing for $60. Oh well. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY! I'm glad it WAS nothing!

I hope the next week goes by FAST. Next week is Ian's LAST week of school, my sister is going to pick us up from here on Thursday and we'll be in Dallas for two days, then (hopefully) Austin! And if not Austin, we'll still be in Dallas for a week! Which isn't here! Hahahaha!!

I hope I can just stay cool for that long. I need a vacation! HA!
